인생 제2막을 시작하며

“Every ending opens the door to another beginning. This is where my Second Life begins.“

모든 끝은 또 다른 시작의 문을 연다. 이곳에서 나의 인생 제2막이 시작된다.

Turning a page in life is not about leaving the past behind. It is about carrying its lessons forward as a new journey begins.

인생의 한 장을 넘긴다는 것은 지나온 시간을 끝내는 일이 아니라, 그 경험을 품고 새로운 길을 시작하는 일이다.

나는 아부다비에서 귀국한 시점을 기준으로 인생 제1막과 제2막의 경계로 정했다. 사실 이 시점을 특별한 의미를 지닌 전환점이라고 말하기는 어렵다. 그러나 내 삶을 글로 정리하기 시작하면서 하나의 구획을 정해 이야기를 이어가는 것이 자연스럽겠다는 생각이 들었다. 시기적으로도 예순을 앞둔 시점이었고, 오랜 해외생활을 마무리하고 다시 한국으로 돌아왔다는 점에서 새로운 출발을 시작하기에 적절한 시기라고 판단했다.

지금까지의 이야기는 내가 걸어온 길을 돌아보며 기록한 회고록이었다. 하지만 이제부터의 이야기는 조금 다를 것이다. 앞으로의 삶은 이미 지나간 시간을 정리하는 데 그치지 않고, 지금 살아가고 있는 시간을 함께 기록해 나가는 과정이 될 것이다.

그래서 인생 제2막은 지금까지처럼 Chapter를 이어가는 대신, 2024년, 2025년, 2026년과 같이 한 해를 하나의 단위로 기록해 보려고 한다. 그렇게 하면 그해에 무엇을 배우고, 어떤 사람들을 만나며, 어떤 고민을 하고, 또 어떤 기쁨과 실패를 경험했는지를 더욱 자연스럽게 담아낼 수 있을 것이라 생각한다.

이 홈페이지를 만들기 시작한 것은 2026년 7월이다. 따라서 2024년과 2025년의 기록 역시 현재의 시점에서 되돌아보는 또 하나의 회고록이다. 시간이 흐르면서 기억은 생각보다 빠르게 희미해진다. 요즘은 몇 달 전의 일조차 정확히 기억나지 않아 일정표와 메모를 다시 찾아보는 경우가 많다. 그런 의미에서 매년의 삶을 기록으로 남기기로 한 것은 내게도 의미 있는 선택이었다.

앞으로 이 기록 속에는 몇 가지 주제를 꾸준히 담아 보고 싶다.

첫째는 배움의 기록이다. 손해평가사 시험을 준비했던 과정, 스마트스토어 운영, WordPress 홈페이지 제작, 그리고 빠르게 발전하는 AI 기술과 다양한 디지털 도구들을 배우며 익혀 가는 과정을 솔직하게 기록하고 싶다.

둘째는 나눔의 기록이다. 사람은 배우는 것만큼이나 배운 것을 함께 나눌 때 더 크게 성장한다고 믿는다. 현재는 교회 국제부에서 외국인 유학생들에게 한국어를 가르치고 생활을 돕는 일을 하고 있으며, 앞으로는 일본어 모임이나 다른 형태의 교육 활동도 시작해 보고 싶다. 내가 살아오며 얻은 경험과 지식을 누군가에게 작은 도움이 되는 방식으로 나누는 것 또한 인생 제2막의 중요한 목표 가운데 하나이다.

셋째는 여행의 기록이다. 그동안 여러 나라를 다녔지만, 정작 그 여정을 충분히 기록하지는 못했다. 앞으로는 국내외를 여행하며 만나는 사람들과 풍경, 그리고 그 속에서 배우는 생각들을 조금 더 소중하게 남겨 보고 싶다.

물론 이러한 배움과 경험이 새로운 도전으로 이어지고, 때로는 경제적인 성과로 연결되는 과정 또한 솔직하게 기록해 보고 싶다. 성공뿐 아니라 시행착오와 실패까지도 함께 남긴다면, 그것 또한 인생 제2막의 소중한 기록이 될 것이라 믿는다.

앞으로 시간이 흐를수록 새로운 관심사가 생기고, 또 다른 배움과 만남이 이어질 것이다. 이 홈페이지 역시 그 변화와 함께 성장해 갈 것이다.

그렇다면 이제 인생 제2막의 첫 번째 기록을 시작해 보려 한다.

2024년.

아부다비에서 한국으로 돌아온 이후, 새로운 삶을 다시 시작했던 그 첫해의 이야기부터 차근차근 기록해 나가고자 한다.

인생 제2막은 이미 정해진 길을 따라가는 시간이 아니라, 배우고 나누며 새로운 가능성을 만들어 가는 과정일 것이다. 앞으로의 기록이 성공만을 보여 주지는 않겠지만, 기쁨과 실패, 배움과 도전이 함께 쌓여 나만의 두 번째 삶을 만들어 가는 모습만큼은 솔직하게 남기고 싶다.

Beginning My Second Life

I chose my return from Abu Dhabi as the point that separates the first act of my life from the second. In truth, there is nothing particularly symbolic about that moment alone. However, as I began writing the story of my life, it felt natural to divide it into meaningful stages. I was approaching the age of sixty, and having concluded many years of life overseas, returning to Korea seemed like the right moment to begin a new chapter.

Everything I have written so far has been a memoir—a reflection on the road I have already traveled. From this point forward, however, the story will be different. Rather than simply looking back on the past, it will become a record of the life I continue to live, one day at a time.

For that reason, instead of continuing with numbered chapters, I have decided to organize the second act of my life by year—2024, 2025, 2026, and so on. Looking back at each year individually will allow me to record more naturally what I learned, the people I met, the questions I struggled with, and the moments of both joy and disappointment that shaped my life.

I began creating this website in July 2026. Therefore, even my stories from 2024 and 2025 are, in a sense, memoirs written from the perspective of the present. Memories fade more quickly than we realize. These days, I often find myself checking my calendar or old notes just to recall events from only a few months earlier. Looking back, I believe that choosing to record my life one year at a time was a meaningful decision.

There are several themes I hope to continue documenting in the years ahead.

The first is the record of learning. I want to write honestly about preparing for the Crop Damage Appraiser examination, operating an online Smart Store, building this WordPress website, and learning to use the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies.

The second is the record of sharing. I believe that people grow not only by learning but also by sharing what they have learned with others. Since 2026, I have been serving in the International Ministry at my church, teaching Korean and helping international students adjust to life in Korea. In the future, I also hope to organize Japanese language study groups and explore other educational activities. Sharing the knowledge and experiences I have gained throughout my life has become one of the important goals of my second act.

The third is the record of travel. Although I have visited many countries over the years, I rarely took the time to preserve those experiences in writing. From now on, I hope to record not only the places I visit, but also the people I meet, the landscapes I encounter, and the lessons I learn along the way.

I also look forward to documenting how these experiences may eventually lead to new opportunities and, perhaps, meaningful financial results. Successes, failures, experiments, and unexpected outcomes all deserve a place in this journey. They, too, will become valuable chapters in the story of my second life.

As the years pass, new interests will emerge, new lessons will be learned, and new people will enter my life. I hope this website will continue to grow alongside those changes.

And so, it is time to begin the first record of my second act.

Reflection

The second act of life is not about following a path that has already been laid before us. It is about continuing to learn, to share, and to discover new possibilities. I know that the years ahead will not be filled only with success, but I hope to record them honestly—celebrating both achievements and failures, because together they will shape the life I continue to build.
